Male breast reduction surgery#men, also known as gynecomastia surgery, is performed when a man has breasts that are enlarged or overdeveloped. There are many reasons why this could happen. For men who are looking to correct this issue with this kind of surgery, they will need to consult with a cosmetic surgeon beforehand.

The male patient will have to provide medical information to the surgeon. The surgeon will ask plenty of questions. They must be forthright and honest to prevent any compromise and to prevent their lives from being in jeopardy by omitting information just so he can have the gynocomastia surgery.

The plastic surgeon will need to know why they want to have the surgery and what the expectations are after having the surgery. The patient will have to provide information on any and all medication that they are taking at the current time.

The surgeon will need to perform a medical evaluation to make sure that the male patient is healthy enough to have this type of surgery. If they smoke, he will be advised to kick the habit a few weeks prior to the gynecomastia surgery procedure.

Costs will also be discussed. The patient must be able to pay for the surgical procedure, whether it’s with private health insurance, their own funds or financing. All combined, this will run the candidate thousands of dollars. If private insurance won’t pay any of it or he doesn’t have the funds upfront, then they can check out financing. The method of payment must be decided before the gynecomastia surgery procedure can take place.

The cosmetic surgeon will either administer general anesthesia or an IV to help you go to sleep. They may have to use liposuction if the enlarged breasts come from excess fatty tissue. The fat is removed using a vacuum suction.

There will probably be some pain and swelling after the breast procedure. The surgeon will apply dressings on the incisions. The surgeon will provide post-surgical instructions. It is important that they are followed through in order to experience an effective recovery and healing.
