Skin Care: Four Key Components of a Unique Appearance

 

In addition to advanced plastic surgery procedures, our Chicago and Winnetka offices also offer a range of skin care treatments. These non-surgical options have been carefully investigated and selected by Dr. John Q. Cook for their efficacy and ability to meet the unique skin care needs of his patients.

                                 

At the Whole Beauty Institute™, Dr. John Q. Cook extends the range of possibilities for his patients with a carefully selected portfolio of advanced medical aesthetics procedures.  These include relaxants such as BOTOX®, dermal fillers such as Restylane®, Perlane®, JUVÉDERM™, and Radiesse®, the most advanced techniques of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) for treatment of uneven skin color, the latest Starlux® technology for permanent hair reduction and fractional resurfacing for reduction of fine surface lines.  We also offer the Diamondtome® technology for microdermabrasion, an extensive portfolio of medical grade peels and a selection high grade medical products including the Environ® line of skin products.

Patients who come to the Whole Beauty Institute™ benefit from Dr. Cook’s experience, artistic sensibilities, and healthy skepticism.  They know that Dr. Cook has selected from what rightly appears to the patient as a confusing and always growing array of products and services.  As in the surgical end of the practice, Dr. Cook’s experience is the patient’s best ally.  Fifteen years ago he looked at chemical peels, lasers, pulsed light, and injectables and saw them as ways to help his patients extend the value of services that he could offer them.  Dr. Cook traveled to Europe in order to evaluate a range of products and therapies that were not yet available in the United States.  This enabled his practice to offer patients a high level of knowledge and technical skill when these products became available.

This emphasis an in-depth evaluation of potential new products and services extends to the present day at the Whole Beauty Institute™.  Competing technologies and products are carefully tested and scrutinized by our clinicians before we offer them to our patients.  Inclusion of a product or technology in our portfolio of services is considered a prize by the companies that develop these products, since they know that our selection process is extremely rigorous. 

We are particularly proud of the list of procedures that we have not offered our patients over the years, as this list includes a number of spectacular disappointments.

Tone, Contour,  Dynamics and Surface Quality

TONE: of the face and other body regions can be addressed by medical grade  products, non-ablative therapies, and surgical procedures.  Each clinician at the Whole Beauty Institute™ has been trained by Dr. John Q. Cook to understand the continuum of possible treatments, both non-surgical and surgical.  If a surgical procedure will provide a better solution to your needs, Dr. Cook will address these issues with you.

CONTOUR: is most often enhanced with a wide range of injectable fillers including Autologous Fat Transfer, Radiesse®, Perlane®, Restylane®, and JUVÉDERM™.  Our extensive experience with each of these materials allows us to select the optimum choice for each region of the face.  We are able to replenish the fullness of the upper cheek and diminish tear troughs (grooves beneath the lower eyelid), replenish and enhance the lips and surrounding areas, and soften the nasal labial folds.  We also offer advanced techniques to restore volume beneath the brow and the temple.

DYNAMICS: Excess activity of expressive muscles in the face can produce “frown lines” between  the brows and distort facial appearance in other areas.  Our highly experience clinicians provide each patient with an individualized analysis of the dynamics of his or her expressive patterns.  This is the basis or our therapy to rebalance facial activity in a way that enhances appearance but does not lead to an inexpressive face.  Careful individualized treatments with relaxants such as BOTOX® are a key component of this therapy.

SURFACE QUALITY: The skin’s surface quality reflects its underlying dynamic balance and health.  At the Whole Beauty Institute™ we offer individualized programs of medical grade products to repair and refresh the skin.  Our team will design a program that takes into account your skin’s hydration, tone, history of sun damage, and oil content.  With this foundation established, we can then address other aspects of the skin’s surface quality.  We employ advanced techniques of medical grade microdermabrasion to restore smoothness to the skin surface.  Medical grade skin peels can help regulate pigment structure of the skin.  Redness or areas of brown pigment are reduced with IPL pulsed light therapy.  Fine surface lines and prominent pore structure are reduced with fractional resurfacing, highly effective treatments with minimum downtime.  Permanent hair reduction is carried out with the latest system, the Palomar 500 Starlux®, which reduces treatment time for our patients.
