prp treatmentPlatelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, is quickly becoming a staple in aesthetic medicine. PRP has been utilized in other areas of medicine for years to speed healing, reduce inflammation and accelerate the body’s natural restorative mechanisms. We now utilize these same principles by including PRP in a variety of our anti-aging and regenerative treatments.

“PRP enhances cell turnover and stimulates growth”

PRP is the component of our blood that contains concentrated platelet cells and plasma. This portion of our blood contains a variety of natural growth factors, including endothelial growth factor and epithelial growth factor, both of which stimulate new cell growth and enhance tissue remodeling.

The process of obtaining PRP is quite easy. It begins with a simple blood draw which is then placed in a centrifuge which spins the sample vigorously in order to separate the different components of the blood. We then extract the isolated PRP portion to use in our advanced therapies and treatments.

The natural growth factors found in PRP have been shown to regenerate and create new collagen and elastin fibers. We have found these properties to be extremely beneficial in our micro-needling or micro-channeling treatments. During a micro-needling treatment tiny punctures are made into the skin, these micro injuries alone stimulate collagen growth, but by incorporating PRP we are able to drive the growth factors found in PRP deep into the skin via these newly created micro-channels and further compound the renewal of the skin via restored collagen and elastin fibers.

Because we know PRP enhances cell turnover and stimulates growth it is also an extremely useful element in hair restoration. PRP can be injected directly into the scalp to treat hair loss. It can also help to strengthen existing hair, making it the ideal treatment for an individual with thinning hair.
