Breast Lift and Breast Reduction with Reduced Scars, Enhanced Support
and Improved Form of The Upper Breast

In recent years I have developed a different approach to the Breast Lift and Breast Reduction operations. I call this technique Structural™ Breast Surgery.  This technique provides my patients with three significant advantages, when compared to other techniques that I have used.

The first advantage is a reduction in the length of the surgical scars, particularly when compared to the classic version of breast lift, with scars that run a long distance along the fold under the breast. These scars are particularly an issue at the inner aspect of the breast, where they may be revealed by swim suits and certain cuts of dresses.

The second advantage is a deep structural anchoring of the breast in its new position, which helps to keep the breast where it belongs.  Many techniques of breast lift and breast reduction surgery rely upon removal and tightening of the skin as the sole means to lift the breast.  Unfortunately the skin often stretches again, and the breast settles.

The third advantage is a structural rearrangement of the breast tissue, which restores fullness to the upper portion of the breast with natural breast tissue.  With other breast lift techniques, patients are often disappointed by a lack of volume in the upper portions of the breast once the early healing phase has passed. This is one reason why many surgeons combine breast lift surgery with the placement of breast implants, even when the patient really doesn’t want to increase the size of her breasts.

The recovery from structural breast surgery is usually fairly easy from the patient’s perspective. Most patients can return to work several days after surgery, as long as the work does not require heavy lifting. It is necessary to avoid strenuous activity for 4 to 6 weeks.

When the surgery is combined with another operation, such as an abdominoplasty, recovery is longer.
