The excess skin created by a C-section may be corrected by a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty procedure. As with all other aspects of plastic surgery, proper treatment comes from making a proper diagnosis. There are three factors which contribute to the bulge: a tight band of scar tissue underneath the original C-section scar, excess fat in the lower abdomen, and loose skin. I educate my Chicago patients, about the relative contribution of each of these factors that will determine the best treatment.
I offer my Chicago patients a wide range of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) techniques. Each patient has a unique anatomy and specific set of personal needs. It is important to explore these issues so that we can select the best possible option. I share several patient experiences per the different techniques I offer in this article.
High Lateral Tension Abdominoplasty is my preferred technique for restoring the tone of the abdomen. Patients come to me for this procedure because they have experienced a loss of tone of the abdominal skin, usually as a result of pregnancy or significant weight fluctuation.
