IPL Photofacial / Laser / Hair

For Various Skin Types

Iriderm

The Iriderm DioLite 532 laser is used to treat broken capillaries of the face. Broken capillaries tend to appear around the nose and cheeks and occur more frequently in those with fair complexions. Iriderm is not recommended for all skin types – the best candidates have light-colored skin with red broken capillaries.

Broken capillaries include:

  • Cherry Angiomas - slightly raised red lesions
  • Spider Angiomas - slight raised, red spider-like lesions
  • Telangiectasia - facial spider veins caused by a dilation of capillary vessels or arterioles

Iriderm laser treatments are performed as outpatient procedures at Dr. Cook’s Chicago offices; typically, they take 15 minutes and do not require anesthesia.

During your treatment, you will wear protective goggles or eye shields and lie down on the exam table. The clinician will direct the laser light by aiming a small wand device at the treatment area.  The laser beams come out in fast pulses and feel like quick flashes of heat. Anesthetics are not used because they hide the vessels. You may feel a brief stinging sensation during or shortly after the treatment.

Following treatment with the Iriderm laser, treated areas may appear red. There will be slight downtime. As you know, you should wear sunblock everyday, but it will be particularly important after your treatment. You may see results almost instantly, or it could take up to two weeks, depending on the type of skin condition you’ve had treated.

Most patient find that the majority of their vessels disappear after one treatment, but some vessels may need two or more treatments.

Results are often permanent, but may vary due to continued aging, chronic effects of sun damage, acne, rosacea, trauma, or inflammation; new vessels may later appear in previously treated areas, but generally this takes many months to years.

Laser Fractional Rejuvenation

Our Chicago centers offer superior laser skin texture resurfacing that uses the latest laser technology to dramatically reduce fine lines and pores to improve skin’s texture as well as diminish dark pigments including melasma by accelerating the formation of new, healthy tissue.  Best results occur with a series of laser skin resurfacing treatments at 3-4 week intervals.

IPL Photofacial

An IPL Photofacial is a safe and non-invasive intense pulsed light treatment used to improve the appearance of photo aged skin by removing sun damage, age spots, brown pigmentation as well as redness caused by broken capillaries and rosacea.  These gentle treatments use broad-spectrum light to treat the face, chest, neck, hands and virtually anywhere that sun damage shows.  This is a great complexion corrector with little to no down time.

Hair Removal

The easy  way to permanently reduce unwanted body hair with the latest intense pulsed light technology available.  Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin.  The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential of the follicle. Our Chicago centers offer effective hair removal treatments that are closely monitored by Dr. Cook to maximize safety and results.

Latisse®

Grow longer, fuller, darker eyelashes.  Latisse® solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichoisis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thick and darker.  Improvement of your eyelashes is expected to occur within two months of daily treatment.
