Enhanced IPL™ PhotoFacials at Whole Beauty® Institute
Intense pulsed light is a well-established treatment for areas of excess pigmentation due to sun damage and for redness due to an abundance of fine blood vessels, particularly in the cheeks and nose. All IPL treatments are not equal. Non-medical grade treatments at spas and salons are based on technology that is relatively weak and inefficient. Although this limits the effectiveness of the treatments it also helps to protect the customers from the harm that might occur from treatment by more powerful methods in uncredentialled hands.
At the Whole Beauty® Institute, we are pleased to offer our patients Enhanced IPL™ The Palomar ICON® platform is the latest and most advanced technology from the company that developed and patented the IPL process. Since investing in this technology we have found that each treatment is more effective and fewer total treatments are necessary.
We couple the power of the ICON device with our Enhanced Oxygen Facials™ to provide our patients with an Enhanced IPL. Our technology uses hyperbaric oxygen to deliver soothing hyaluronic compounds to the skin. The net effect is a powerful therapy that leaves the skin cool, hydrated, and refreshed.
Our clinical team will be happy to provide you with additional information about the Enhanced IPL process. For information or to schedule an evaluation, please contact us.
Laser Fractional Rejuvenation - Collagen Stimulating Therapy
Our Chicago centers offer superior laser skin texture resurfacing that uses the latest laser technology to dramatically reduce fine lines and pores to improve skin’s texture as well as diminish dark pigments including melasma by accelerating the formation of new, healthy tissue. Best results occur with a series of laser skin resurfacing treatments at 3-4 week intervals.
Iriderm - Broken Blood Vessel Repair
The Iriderm DioLite 532 laser is used to treat broken capillaries of the face. Broken capillaries tend to appear around the nose and cheeks and occur more frequently in those with fair complexions. Iriderm is not recommended for all skin types – the best candidates have light-colored skin with red broken capillaries.
Broken capillaries include:
- Cherry Angiomas - slightly raised red lesions
- Spider Angiomas - slight raised, red spider-like lesions
- Telangiectasia - facial spider veins caused by a dilation of capillary vessels or arterioles
Iriderm laser treatments are performed as outpatient procedures at Dr. Cook’s Chicago offices; typically, they take 15 minutes and do not require anesthesia.
During your treatment, you will wear protective goggles or eye shields and lie down on the exam table. The clinician will direct the laser light by aiming a small wand device at the treatment area. The laser beams come out in fast pulses and feel like quick flashes of heat. Anesthetics are not used because they hide the vessels. You may feel a brief stinging sensation during or shortly after the treatment.
Following treatment with the Iriderm laser, treated areas may appear red. There will be slight downtime. As you know, you should wear sunblock everyday, but it will be particularly important after your treatment. You may see results almost instantly, or it could take up to two weeks, depending on the type of skin condition you’ve had treated.
Most patient find that the majority of their vessels disappear after one treatment, but some vessels may need two or more treatments.
Results are often permanent, but may vary due to continued aging, chronic effects of sun damage, acne, rosacea, trauma, or inflammation; new vessels may later appear in previously treated areas, but generally this takes many months to years.
The easy way to permanently reduce unwanted body hair with the latest intense pulsed light technology available. Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential of the follicle. Our Chicago centers offer effective hair removal treatments that are closely monitored by Dr. Cook to maximize safety and results.
