What is Sofwave™?

Sofwave™ is an advanced non-invasive and needle-free ultrasound therapy that delivers pulses of energy to a precise depth in the mid-level of the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin. This sets off a process that restores the collagen, elastin, and other substances that provide resilience in younger skin. The body’s natural healing process gently restores in the tissue resulting in a smoother and tighter appearance.

What does Sofwave™ treat?

Sofwave™ is a great treatment for patients who wish to address mild to moderate skin laxity and associated wrinkles on the face, neck, and other body areas. Other problems that can benefit include non-tethered acne scars, crepey skin on the arms, and short-term improvement (or blurring) of cellulite.

Sofwave™ also can provide a mild lifting of the brows for patients who are non-responsive to neuromodulators, or skittish of needles.

What is a Sofwave™ treatment like?

On the day of the treatment, patients will arrive an hour ahead of the actual session time for numbing cream to be applied for approximately 45 minutes. The treatment itself will take between 30 to 45 minutes.

The Sofwave™ handpiece delivers energy pulses through seven parallel beams the size of a grain of rice at a fixed depth of 1.5mm. A cool gel is applied to the treatment area to allow for a smooth movement of the handpiece on the skin’s surface. In addition, the tip of the handpiece has a Softcool™ mechanism to add an additional cooling effect to the skin. The degree of cooling can be increased based on the need of the patient. The clinician holds the device in place and delivers the ultrasound energy by gently gliding across the treatment area. Pulses will be delivered in 2 to 3 second intervals.

While there is no downtime, some patients may experience a little redness afterward which will dissipate in a few hours post treatment. Patient can resume their normal activity immediately including exercise, make-up, and skincare regimens!

How many Sofwave™ treatments do I need?

Many patients are satisfied with their results after 1 treatment. However, some patients may require a second session. Cellulite treatment patients will need several treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.

After the desired goals are achieved a maintenance treatment once a year is recommended.

How long until I see the results from Sofwave™?  

Rebuilding new collagen from a heat response, called neo-collagenases, takes some time. Younger people will begin to see results from Sofwave™ in 4 to 6 weeks with full results visible in 6 months. The response may take longer to appear in older patients.

Patients opting for Sofwave™ for cellulite will see their results in the same timeframe with results lasting up to 6 months.

Sofwave™ is not a substitute for a Face Lift.
